Taxis and shuttles buses will be waiting for custom at the end of the cruise-ship pier. From Frederiksted to the island's capital Christiansted takes about 30 minutes and costs US$16 (£13) return per person in a shared shuttle, while a taxi for two passengers costs US$24 (£20) one way. A three-hour private taxi tour of the island should cost around US$100 (£82) for up to four passengers. This beautiful beach area on the western tip of St. Croix is also a wildlife preserve, particularly known for being a nesting ground for endangered leatherback turtles.

It has great snorkeling and diving off the cane bay wall found only 200 yards offshore. Diving and snorkeling are big here, and the beach is lined with shady palms. From Frederiksted, Point Udall is an hour’s drive, but it’s well worth it. This historic site includes a monument called the Millennium Monument, which is a giant sundial. Take photos here and hike to the top of Goat Hill for views of the ocean outstretched as far as the eye can see.
The small size of the beach makes it cozy, and yet it still attracts plenty of activity whether you’re paddleboarding on the water or ordering a drink from Rhythms, the go-to bar on the beach. Just a short drive north of Frederiksted, Rainbow Beach is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and stunning sunsets. It's a perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling, and water sports with beach bars and restaurants nearby, making it a great choice for a day of relaxation and fun. The draw to St. Croix is in the island’s beauty and outdoor activities, as well as its historical value to the Caribbean.
This park boasts of the largest mangrove system in the USVI’s. A popular thing to do here is taking a kayak tour of the mangrove by the day and seeing the bioluminescent bay by night. While the name is a mouthful, it really does represent one of St. Croix most diverse attraction. The combination of important archaeological sites, land formations and the sea in Salt River Bay Park creates a diverse ecosystem that is fun to explore.
The hiking trail starts at the Carambola, renaissance resort area. Go early in the morning, wear sturdy shoes, carry water, wear sunscreen and go cool off in the pools. St. Croix is the largest of the three US Virgin Islands and as a US Territory, the official language is English, and the currency used is the US dollar.
